I was watching my previous video of the two new pups and realized that I couldn’t see Beau against my black shirt in the subdued kitchen lighting. This is better. Nose and skin pigmentation Because Labrador colouration is controlled by multiple genes, it is possible for recessive genes to emerge some generations later and also there can sometimes be unexpected pigmentation effects to different parts of the body. Pigmentation effects appear in regard to yellow Labradors, and sometimes chocolate, and hence the majority of this section covers pigmentation within the yellow Labrador. The most common places where pigmentation is visible are the nose, lips, gums, feet, tail, and the rims of the eyes, which may be black, brown, light yellow-brown (“liver”, caused by having two genes for chocolate),[19] or several other colours. A Labrador can carry genes for a different colour, for example a black Labrador can carry recessive chocolate and yellow genes, and a yellow Labrador can carry recessive genes for the other two colours. DNA testing can reveal some aspects of these. Less common pigmentations (other than pink) are a fault, not a disqualification, and hence such dogs are still permitted to be shown.[19] The intensity of black pigment on yellow Labs is controlled by a separate gene independent of the fur colouring.[19] Yellow Labradors usually have black noses, which may gradually turn pink with age (called “snow nose” or “winter nose”). Inspired Kitchen Lighting Ideas
Article by Matt Prellie
The kitchen is possibly the most important room; performing the daily tasks for food preparation and meals of course. However, it is essentially the heart of a home; playing host to many other activities and acting as the natural meeting point for the family. Hopefully these kitchen lighting ideas will inspire you to really get the best look.
The first thing to take note of with any kitchen lighting ideas is that each is tailored to a specific task. This needs to be done very effectively to ensure there is no waste; and as such needs to work efficiently too.
Simply put, there are three types of lighting aspects at play in a kitchen. Below we’ll discuss each from Accent Lighting, Task Lighting and Accent Lighting, to hopefully go some way to giving you those ideas and inspiration as mentioned above.
Ambient Lighting – As the name would suggest, this really sets the standard for the light available; and as such should be bright and accessible. It is important to get just the right look for the area to hand however.
Many people will find a single pendant light in the center will be ideal. However, if an L shaped space is being worked with or some such, consider that more than one may be needed; this is certainly true if additional spaces such as breakfasts bar are used.
Task Lighting – Again, the name here reveals the target for this lighting idea. This is possibly the most important aspect of lighting; allowing the user to function safely and adequately when washing dishes; cooking or preparing food.
Other tasks will also be completed in the kitchen of course; so different lights may be needed accordingly. For this reason, each light should be easily able to be manually altered. From down lights to track lights, there are many options to choose from.
Accent Lighting – The best sort of lighting idea in many respects; allowing for freedom of expression and a sense of fun to be introduced into the kitchen. Consider lighting up the cabinets; work surfaces, alcoves and the like. Children’s drawings too can be showcased particularly well and affectionately.
One of the best kitchen lighting ideas where accents can be used dramatically well is on shelving units. Glassware, ornaments and those gorgeous spice and olive oil bottles can be fantastically well displayed to your guests. With the ability to change look and feel throughout the year too; you really can just let yourself go.
